Your Committee 2025 - 2026
Dr Graham Martin
I’m ST4 working in London and Kent. I joined the committee in ST1 contributing to the website, induction, case exchange and conferences. I’m an advocate of improving the teaching programme. My interests are neonatology, cardiology, research and tech in healthcare. Outside of work, I enjoy travelling, visiting family & friends, Formula 1 and Liverpool FC (don’t hate me!)
Dr Thomas Brockwell
I’m an ST2 working in Kent. I’m passionate about improving the experience of trainees across the Deanery and I’m always keen to hear ideas about how we can best advocate for positive change. Outside of hospital, I enjoy cross country running, pubs, log fires, and running between pubs with log fires.
Dr Marsha Owiti
I am an ST5 paediatrics trainee in Kent with a keen interest in emergency medicine. I am equally passionate about championing the wellbeing of trainees, aiming to create a supportive and thriving environment for our collective growth and success.
Dr Annabelle Waller
I’m an ST3 working in Kent. My interests lie in teaching, medical education, improving the experience of trainees by learning from best practices and improving connection across the region. Outside of work, I love spending time with friends and family, and spending lots of time tending to my garden (particularly my roses!) and my ever-growing collection of house plants.
Dr Alex Wells
I’m an ST5 Trainee working in Sussex. I have an interest in paediatric oncology and the role of technology in improving healthcare and our working lives. Outside of work I am a keen hockey player and gym-goer, I strongly advocate for a good work-life balance and working LTFT to help facilitate mental and physical wellbeing among paediatric trainees!
Dr Elise Peever
I’m an ST4 trainee in Surrey and I am hoping to pursue a career in paediatric gastroenterology. This is my first year on the committee as mentoring co-lead. Outside of work I enjoy cycling, trampolining, cooking and seeing family and friends. Always happy to be approached and answer any questions!
Dr Lara Hebdon
I’m an ST2 working in Kent. I’m passionate about medical education and ensuring the transition to starting paeds training is as smooth as possible. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, exploring new places and doing the occasional bit of Sugarcraft!
Dr Brenda Mwiliza
I’m an ST5 with interests in neonatal medicine and research, keen to help build a supportive and inclusive training environment where trainee well-being is prioritised and everyone feels valued. I offer guidance and resources for those navigating pregnancy, maternity leave, or returning to work, and I’m committed to helping IMGs feel welcomed, informed, and confident. Outside work, I love travelling with my family and exploring new cultures.
Dr Abdullah Bin Shabbir
I’m an ST2 trainee working in Sussex with an interest in paediatric endocrinology. Within the committee, I hope to support new trainees and help improve deanery teaching. My second passion is public health. I aspire to improve the health of children and adolescents globally. Beyond work, I enjoy cooking, cycling and traveling.
Dr Hossam Eldesouky
I’m an ST4 Paediatric trainee working in Kent with a PICU background and passion for teaching. I strongly believe in learning from others’ experiences and supporting junior colleagues to thrive. I’m also interested in integrating technology and research into training. Outside work, I love watching football, travelling, exploring new cultures, and spending time with my family.
Dr Pratyush Saha
I’m an ST7 trainee at Medway, slowly but surely working toward becoming a neonatologist (neonates beware!). I help run the committee’s research arm, am approachable, easy-going and a devoted work-life balance advocate. Fond of travel, skilled at procrastination, and learning guitar—ready to “serenade” you after a tough shift. Always happy to help, chat, or distract you with terrible chords!
Dr Karla Buerano
I’m an ST6 trainee working in Surrey. I'm developing an interest in community and neurodevelopment. I joined the committee as an ST6, and I understand going through training is much better when you have someone to turn to. I’ll be part of Peer-Mentoring arm and will hopefully contribute and help foster a supportive environment for our fellow trainees. I’m a LTFT trainee and I devote most of my spare time with my high energy Aussie.
Dr Huda Al-Zubaidi
I’m an ST6 working in London and Surrey this year. I’m the co-lead for wellbeing and I’m part of the KSS Tuesdays case exchange team. I have trained across Sussex, Kent and Surrey so I have a good understanding about our deanery. I’m also developing an interest in diabetes. I’m working 80% for a better work-life balance. Outside of work, recently I’ve taken up running and I try and read books on my train commutes.
Dr Shehani Wijesinghe
I’m an ST1 trainee working in Surrey, passionate about teaching, which makes being one of the Regional Teaching Reps a perfect fit! As an IMG, I understand how challenging it can be to navigate a new system, so I’m committed to helping trainees feel supported & welcome. Outside of work, I love a good social day & believe in the power of casual meetups to build community. My interests include singing, spending time friends, and hitting the gym - #deadlifts anyone?
Dr Sonika Ravikumar
I’m an ST1 Paediatric trainee in Sussex, fuelled by coffee, curiosity, and a can-do attitude! I love working in a team —there’s nothing better than tackling a busy day together and finding reasons to laugh in between. I try to make sure everyone feels supported (and occasionally well-fed!). I’m passionate about improving the experience for paediatric trainees to create a supportive environment. Outside of work, you’ll probably find me trekking somewhere scenic, or experimenting with recipes in the kitchen!
Dr Elsha Madgwick-Miller
I’m ST3 currently on sabbatical. I’m interested in community paeds and medical education! I love teaching and hopefully soon will have my generic instructor qualification so I can teach on APLS/NLS. I’m a well-being co lead and will be aiming to make training as enriching and valuable as possible, above service provision. I’m a LTFT trainee and outside of medicine enjoy roadtrips, sea swims and CrossFit.
Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) Representative
Dr Andreia Cordoso Pinto
The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (aka ‘the College’) is a national body that among other things, oversees the training of all UK paediatricians. RCPCH writes the curriculum, organises membership examinations, certifies paediatricians and directs what paediatric training in the UK should look like. The RCPCH appoints and liaises with College Tutors at each trust. The RCPCH Trainees Committee is separate to the KSS Paediatrics Trainees’ Committee.
